Our Promise 2020: Sacramento LGBT Community Center

In a time when stable housing is more important than ever, the Sacramento LGBT Community Center is stepping up in big ways to support LGBT youth.

Tom Runge, and Information Technology Technician for CDCR’s Enterprise Information Systems, held a virtual interview with Lanz Nalagan of the Center. Nalagan, who serves as Annual and Corporate Giving Director for the Center, shared the multiple avenues for safe housing provided by the Center. These include temporary hotel stays, short-term emergency placements, and a host program in which community members open their homes to youth, providing not only a place to stay, but also mentorship and compassion.

The Sacramento LGBT Community Center is one of thousands of nonprofits that can be supported through one-time or ongoing donations via Our Promise. All you need to make a donation is your chosen organization’s Tax ID number. For the Center, that number is 94-2502229. Learn more at https://saccenter.org/.

The giving portal is accessed via Cal Employee Connect. To learn more, visit https://www.ourpromiseca.org/. As the CDCR Our Promise campaign continues, stay tuned to Inside CDCR and CDCR’s social media platforms to hear from staff about the organizations they support.

Share your passion for helping. We want to feature YOU! CDCR and CCHCS staff go above and beyond each day by giving back to their communities. Please share your photos, videos, or messages about you and your co-workers’ charitable efforts and the organizations you support, and we’ll feature them on Inside CDCR and social media. Send to Our Promise Campaign Chair and Co-Chair Sonia Mercado and Krissi Khokhobashvili (both emails can be found in Global).
